All of our sea salts are hand-harvested using traditional organic celtic artisan methods. All are mineral-rich, unrefined, unbleached, unwashed, and chemical-free as nature intended.

All of our Marisol Sea Salts sea salts are certified by and follow the strict standards of Certiplanet, European Mark of Exceptional Quality and Purity, certifying the products as 100% natural (no additives), harvested and processed by organic methods, unrefined, and free of pesticides, herbicides and chemicals. Marisol Sea Salts are also Kosher certified.

At Misty Mountain Organic Bakery, an organic artisan micro-bakery, we began our business in 1987 by baking high-quality Organic Desem Breads ("pain au levain", natural leaven) for BC and Alberta customers. The only salt that we could find at that time that was good enough for our organic Desem Bread was hand-harvested unrefined sea salt from Guérande, France. It was a natural development for us to begin distributing health-friendly sea salts.

Since 1990, Misty Mountain Bakery has been distributing both bulk and packaged sizes of organically produced, hand-harvested sea salts to retailers, naturopaths, bakeries, natural product producers, etc. in Canada.

In 2007, we learned from an organic miso maker that he would only use the Portuguese salt, which he said was of higher quality than the sea salts from Guérande. After researching it, we discovered that what he said was true.

Marisol's Portuguese sea salts are of the same high level standards and quality as the sea salts fom Guérande and, in addition, they are naturally very clean, (and lack the grey clay colour), due to the hotter, drier climate in the Algarve region of Portugal, which allows a very abundant harvest of naturally clean salt, requiring no washing. In addition, the Marisol fine salts are naturally moist, having been dried only by the action of sun and wind (the Le Paludier fine sea salt that we previously sold, is dried with electric heat). We are very excited to to now offer these unsurpassed quality unrefined sea salts!
