 Gomashio
A Traditional Japanese Macrobiotic Seasoning Made from Sesame Seeds and Sea Salt.

Ingredients:

1 cup raw unhulled sesame seeds

1/2 Tbsp unrefined sea salt

1) Lightly roast sesame seeds in a wok or cast iron frying pan on medium heat until golden brown.

2) Grind sesame seeds fine in a blender or traditional Japanese suribachi*

2) Add fine sea salt and mix well.

3) Sprinkle on stir-fried vegetables, rice or salad.

*grooved ceramic grinding bowl with wooden pestle, much used by macrobiotic cooks: considered to make the best gomashio.
